136 Filipino deportees arrive from Malaysia

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mybreak/ Nov. 3, 06) - - More than a hundred of Filipino illegal migrants who were among those thousands aliens rounded in Malaysia have arrived in this southern port city, social worker said Friday.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported 136 deportees, all adults, arrived aboard the M/V Danica Joy last Wednesday from Kuta Kinabalu, Malaysia.

The DSWD disclosed that the deportees who arrived entered Malaysia without valid documents.

The Malaysian government is expected to deport about 300,000 Filipino illegals in the coming weeks, and thousands more from other nationalities that entered their country illegally. #

Abu Sayyaf hitman captured, two soldiers wounded in Jolo island...

ZAMBOANGA CITY - - A Jemaah Islamiyah (JI)-trained Abu Sayyaf hitman was captured after he wounded two soldiers in liquidation attempt in Jolo island, Saturday night, the military reported. Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) disclosed the soldiers came from humanitarian mission when they were attacked by the assassin. The two soldiers were wounded but managed to fire back and brief firefight ensued. Alerted soldiers and police quickly cordoned the encounter site and caught the assassin who is believed to be with another companion that managed to escape. The triggerman was tagged by the military and police as member of the Abu Sayyaf urban terror group (UTG), a terror unit trained by the JI in demolition and assassination.
