INTELLIGENCE SERVICE RECAPTURES ABU SAYYAF IN BASILAN

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mybreak\ Nov. 25, 06) - Army intelligence service agents captured an Abu Sayyaf member, which the military tagged to be involved in the kidnapping of American nationals 5 years ago, in a village of Lamitan, Basilan, according to official.

Captured suspect who was presented to the media was identified as Annik Abbas alias Abu Anek, tagged to be among those who allegedly witness the execution of one American captives.

Abbas was captured while on board his getaway motorcycle at Barangay Colonia, Lamitan near the boundary of Tuburan town Basilan Friday night.

Javier said Abbas who was captured in 2002, a year after he participated the Dos Palmas kidnapping, bolted cell during a jail break on April 2004 and went on hiding.

However, Abbas denied this citing that he was already captured before the incident but admitted he was a member of the Abu Sayyaf. #
