Ausy envoy calls for continues int'l commitment to the Philippine's war on terror

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mybreak/Nov. 13, 06) – Australian Ambassador Tony Hely urged the continued international commitment to support the military hunting down the terrorists in the island of southern Philippines.

His call was despite of the reported decline in number of the al-Qaeda-linked Jemaah islamiyah (JI) and the Abu Sayyaf.

Hely said the terrorist is a resilient group and would regenerate.

“There is a drop of the number of terrorists, declining somewhat but they are resilient and do regenerate. We need to keep the international commitment and work together for the Philippines,” Hely said. #
